Guernsey Water advises island residents that the next phase of its wastewater network extension programme will begin in the Route du Longfrie area of St Pierre du Bois from 29 September 2014.

The project to extend the main sewer will incorporate a number of roads in the area, and will take approximately 10 months to complete.

Once completed, the extended sewer will allow up to 103 properties to connect.

Due to the nature of the works Guernsey Water regrets that there will inevitably be some inconvenience to residents and businesses in the area, however extensive consultation with Environment, Traffic Services Department has produced a programme of road closures designed to minimise the impact of these works.

The coordination of these works has also been carefully considered alongside other utility works being carried out in the vicinity by JT and Sure.

Guernsey Water will continue to work closely with contractors Geotrant and the States of Guernsey Environment department to ensure that disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

The programme of road closures is as follows:

More information on the traffic management arrangements for the area can be obtained from the Island Roadworks website.

The works will provide:
a) Facility to drain the storm runoff storage tanks constructed as part of the Airport runway project.
b) The diversion of flows sewage flows from Bas Courtils pumping station, currently discharge to the Creux Mahie catchment.

Nearby residents and businesses will be invited to a drop-in session, to be arranged prior to the works, to discuss any queries or concerns regarding this project.
